This very well known businessman, producer (Scarface) and aviation aficionado had a brief relationship with Paulette in the forties, as he did with numerous other legendary stars such as Ava Gardner, Gene Tierney, Lana Turner, Susan Hayward, and Katherine Hepburn.

Paulette was invited, along with her husband Burgess Meredith , journalists, and about thirty other celebrities (including Edward G. Robinson, Linda Darnell, William Powell, and Walter Pidgeon), to join the Texas billionaire as he flew the first non-stop transcontinental flight from Los Angeles to New York on February 15, 1946. At 8,000 meters (about 26,000 feet), Howard Hughes piloted the four-engine TWA Lockheed Constellation, an airplane that launched in December 1945.
