A witness to the Golden Age of Hollywood, Paulette filmed with such prestigious stars as Fred Astaire, Charles Boyer, Claudette Colbert, Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, Olivia de Havilland, Bob Hope, James Stewart, Lana Turner or John Wayne.
She was directed by great directors like George Cukor and Jean Renoir, and became the favourite actress of Cecil B. de Mille or Mitchell Leisen.
Paulette appeared on the big screen for the first time in 1929 and ended her career 43 years later, in 1972. Of the 54 films in which she acted, Paulette was the main actress in 39 of them while still missing out on some mythical characters. She also worked on documentaries and radio productions. Occasionally, she played on television and in theatre, she also had some brand endorsements.
Other documentaries and films use archival footage or extracts from Paulette’s films. Three actresses have depicted Paulette during important periods of her life : her relationships with
Erich Marie Remarque, and her audition for Gone With The Wind.
